FLASH PROGRAMMING Introducing the IdeoLogic FLASH PROGRAMMER and SMARTPORT adapter. Two valuable BDM support tools originally developed for internal use to facilitate flash-based embedded development and increase production throughput are now available to all system developers.

The FLASH PROGRAMMER enables an embedded application’s target flash memory to be read, merged, programmed and verified via the BDM port built into the HC16 and 683XX family of microcontrollers (see related EE TIMES article "Finding Use for Background Debug"). Used in conjunction with the SMARTPORT adapter or Nohau emulators, the FLASH PROGRAMMER makes an excellent high-speed development and production tool.

The SMARTPORT adapter provides a direct connection between an IBM-PC or compatible and a target system's BDM port interface header. The SMARTPORT adapter simplifies the PC interface by connecting directly to the printer port of desktop or laptop computers, yet contains intelligence to provide the highest download rates available. An excellent tool for high volume production or field updates and diagnostics.
